If their demands on the NI Protocol are not met, the Democratic Unionist Party may leave Stormont and call a new election "within weeks," according to its leader.
Sir Jeffrey Donaldson also stated that his party would now boycott most ministerial meetings between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
He stated that such interactions could not be "business as usual" when the UK's links were harmed.
There may be a need to "refresh our mandate," explained Sir Jeffrey.
He also stated that his party's ministers would quit rather than impose further border checks on products entering Northern Ireland from the rest of the United Kingdom.
The protocol was included in the United Kingdom's Brexit agreement with the European Union.
It ensures unfettered trade across the Irish border by keeping Northern Ireland aligned with the EU's single market for goods. However, it has resulted in more checks on goods crossing the Irish Sea, which has sparked criticism and protests from unionists.
Due to what is known as grace periods, not all of the checks have been completed.
The UK government extended the grace periods indefinitely earlier this week, claiming that it was vital to make room for more talks with the EU.
The address comes as Maros Sefcovic, Vice President of the European Commission, begins a two-day visit to Northern Ireland, where he will meet with political and business leaders.
